Mischtechnik für Trockenmörtel
Wann rechnet sich welches Mischsystem?
Berberich, Stefan
Mixing technology for dry mortar – when is which system worthwhile?
Factory-produced dry mortar is one of the building materials that can be decisive for the quality and efficiency of construction processes. Its versatile application possibilities in particular make it important to consider its basic properties. The production step that determines quality is the mixing process in the plant. Various mixing systems are available for mixing. Compared to shear mixers, such as ring trough mixers and planetary mixers, tumbling mixers, such as the so-called Eirich mixer, which has been continuously developed for 100 years, offer a significantly higher power input. The power input in turn correlates with the mixing quality, the effectiveness of large shear forces, which are required, for example, for pigment dispersion, which is why shear mixers (such as those used for mixing concrete) are unsuitable for the preparation of dry mortars. The properties of horizontal mixers and Eirich mixers are described in detail in this article. Parameters such as segregation during mixing, friction and wear, and scale-up in mixers allow recommendations to be made as to when dry mortar manufacturers can produce cost-effectively with horizontal mixers and when with Eirich mixers.
